SCULPTURE
The current Art Glass designs of Don Gonzalez are primarily glass cast in sand . The sculptures are augmented with color treatments and various metals. The sand cast texture contrasts nicely with the cut and polished areas of the sculptures. The polished areas are windows that invite the viewer into the piece for a moment or two of transport. The sand cast sculptures maximize the optical qualities inherent to glass and illustrate the versatile nature of the sand cast process.
